I am currently a product manager at Google Inc in Mountain View.
Until July 2011 I lectured in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Software Engineering at Northumbria University. My main research interest was in information visualisation and bioinformatics, including inventing a method for exploring high-dimensional data sets called Targeted Projection Pursuit.
I was the technical director of Fundraising Skills Ltd, an online training company. I was responsible for the technology strategy and have enjoyed helping it grow into one of the largest suppliers of fundraising training for schools and community groups.
I've also had 20+ years experience in commercial software development, my PhD research was in Philosophy, and I've long been interested in the application of artificial life techniques to art.
